How does a keen believer attain Sanctification?
1. Study the Word of God and obey it.
The Word is not just a mirror that shows up the dark spots of our soul, but a laver ( the Water of the Word ) to wash them away.
" Sanctify them through Your truth" ( John 17:17 ) as Jesus prayed.
For the Word has a transforming virtue: it cleanses the mind and consecrates the heart.
Studying the Word is a daily discipline that should be embraced as a lifestyle
2. Maintain faith in the Blood of Christ ( the finished work of the Cross ).
Even before the Cross, the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of Christ's garment and was healed straightaway ( Mark 5:25-34 ). A touch of faith truly purifies!
Let us pray for God to purify our hearts by faith ( Acts 15:9 ).
Nothing can have a greater force upon the heart - to sanctify it - than faith.
For the love of sin cannot co-exist alongside true faith.
3. Follow after the leading of the Holy Spirit - "the sanctification of the Spirit " ( Romans 15:15 ).
The Holy Spirit sanctifies the heart as fire refines metals. The Holy Spirit at work will generate Christ-likeness in us
4. Associate with sanctified brothers and sisters who by their counsel, prayers, and holy example are a means to make us holy.
" He who walks with the wise shall be wise" ( Proverbs 13:20 )
Association begets simulation.
Abba Father, Job asked: "Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean?" ( Job 14:4 ). You can - out of an unholy heart, You can produce grace. Lord, cleanse my unsanctified heart that pollutes all it touches. "Create in me a clean heart, O Lord, and renew a right spirit within me " ( Psalm 51:10 )
