LESSONS ON HEAVEN ( PART 5 )
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE MILLENNIUM RULE AND REIGN OF CHRIST ON PLANET EARTH?
Every Bible student ought to know the sequence of events after the Millennium rule and reign of Christ on earth:
1. According to Revelation 20, Satan will be loosed from the bottomless pit at the end of the Millennium of a thousand years. Then he will rebel against the Millennial reign of Christ. In one final grasp for power and human allegiance, he will manifest his true nature and attempt to seize the throne of God.
2. He and his followers ( who will be those he managed to deceive among descendants of the survivors of the Great Tribulation) will surround Jerusalem in an attempt to capture the capital city of the kingdom of David as well as of the entire world.
3. There is no mention of a battle like that of Armageddon because the Bible reports briefly: " But fire came down from heaven and devoured them" ( Rev.20:9 ).
4. His termination will be swift but everlasting ( Revelation 20:10).
He will be cast into the Lake of Fire to join the Antichrist and False Prophet ( Revelation 13: 11-18 ) who were thrown in earlier when Christ returned in His Second Coming after the Great Tribulation
5. The Lake of Fire is the final hell reserved for satan and his cohorts ( demons and humans ) from which no one, once placed there, ever leaves.
6. The judgment of satan is then followed by the judgment of the unbelieving dead ( the Great White Throne Judgment described in Revelation 20:11-55 ).
These two judgments form the bridge between the Millennium and the Eternal State as described in Revelation 21-22.
7.After the final events of the Millennium comes the passing away of the present heavens and earth.
John writes: " Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea" ( Revelation 21:1 ).
Abba Father, these events are according to Your prophetic plan and timetable. From today's devotion we realise that just before the inauguration of the Eternal State and the dwelling of believers in heaven for eternity, there will be the judgment of Satan and the fallen angels ( Revelation20:10 ) and the Great White Throne Judgment of those unsaved whose names are not found in the Book of Life ( Revelation 20:11-15 ). Let us pray as believers we will be spared this terrible judgment and sentence to be consigned in the eternal Lake of Fire which is the final hell.
