WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUR EARTHLY AND SPIRITUAL BODIES? ( PART 1)

Paul wrote that believers will have two types of bodies: " If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body " ( 1 Cor.15:42-44 ).

He used the Greek word SOMA for both types of bodies i.e. he made it clear that our resurrection bodies will be just as physical as our natural bodies are physical.

But our heavenly bodies will not be  limited in the same way our earthly bodies are:

1. Our earthly bodies decay; our heavenly bodies will endure.

2. Our earthly bodies are infected by sin; our heavenly bodies will be free of sin.

3. Our earthly bodies are weak; our heavenly bodies will be powerful.

4. Our earthly bodies are for the old earth; our heavenly bodies are for the new earth.

These marked differences invite more questions e.g. what will we be eating and drinking in our new heavenly bodies? Do we need to wear any clothes in our heavenly bodies? At what age will we be in our heavenly bodies? Tomorrow I shall attempt to answer some of them.

Abba Father, we must look to the resurrection body of Jesus for the answers since He is the prototype ( PROTOKOS in Greek ) of our resurrection bodies. To Him be the glory as He is the firstfruits of our resurrection ( I Corinthians 15:20-22 ).
