THE NEW JERUSALEM#15

Why is Heaven equated with a city? ( Part 5 )

Thank you for your positive feedback on this series.

I was very encouraged that you all can now see the end in the beginning as God intended us to envision all along - that the New Jerusalem will be the final destiny of the redeemed as the City of our God.

Literal Babylon is defeated. The Babylonians had the sheer arrogance and tenacious will to make a name for themselves by building the idolatrous Tower of Babel to reach the heavens and bring God down to earth! But God confused their tongues and dispersed them. Those Babylonians who remained as a kingdom were later defeated by the Medeo-Persian Empire. As the woeful cry went out: " Alas, Babylon is fallen!".

But the spiritual equivalent of Babylon lives on today - for humans still organize themselves against God. It will morph in the Book of Revelation and become Mystery Babylon which theologians are still trying to decipher what " she " will be like as the mother of harlotry seducing nations to commit spiritual adultery.

But God is not mocked. His vision of the New Jerusalem as His permanent city on earth will be realised in His perfect timing.

Alexander the Great  in his Middle Eastern conquests did not even realise that his army was trampling over the dust and ruins of the once-mighty Babylonian Empire.

Man imposes but God disposes of.

Abba Father, the New Jerusalem will fulfill Eden's purpose. For the whole city will be Your Temple as it were without any building being singled out for such an honour. All its inhabitants will be priests and rulers unto You. And people from all nations of the earth will be welcome in Your presence. Indeed Your holy cause is ours too, a cause bigger than our lives.
