THE WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT ( REVELATION 20:10-15 )

This subject is difficult to visualize as we called upon to stretch our imagination from the dawn of human history until after the Millenium Period of 1,000 years.

But we shall give it a try.

Revelation 20:10-15 tells us Satan will receive his final sentence and with him, every person who has ever lived and refused to align himself or herself with Christ. They will stand at the Great White Throne of God to receive their due sentence and punishment.

1. Firstly the devil is judged. He will thus be completely defeated and bound to Hell ( the eternal lake of fire ) with no reprieve, to be tormented forever.

2. All of the unrighteous who have rejected God ( people from the beginning of time ) will also receive their sentence of eternity. 

A. These include those who refused to accept Christ through the ages.

B.Those who took the " mark of the beast" during the Tribulation Period of Seven Years.

C. Those who are part of the unrighteous nations who rebelled against Christ at the end of the Millennium of 1,000 years.

All these people will be thrown into Hell, the eternal lake of fire.

3. The Church in Heaven is not part of this judgment. For glorified saints were already judged 1,000 years earlier whether their names were written in the Book of Life. Our judgment at the Great White Throne will be for reward - the reward we will receive for our obedience to God.

4. There is a class of people left to consider - the natural people who made up the saved nations that stood with Christ during the Millennium. Some theologians suggest they are will not be judged but are in Heaven as the Church. But they do not have glorified bodies as they were not part of the First Resurrection. This is difficult to understand. Suffice to say that these people would not have to stand before the Great White Throne as they have already chosen the Lord.

Abba Father, it is such an awesome task to try to understand the magnitude and details of Your Great White Throne Judgment. It is perhaps easier to say that all people will be accounted for as unrighteous or righteous. The unrighteous will suffer judgment and Hell but the righteous will enjoy their gift of eternal life and their eternal rewards in Heaven.
