THE NEW JERUSALEM #24 | OUR GLORIFIED BODY ( PART 8)

Pastor Christopher Choo,

Lesson 3279

THE NEW JERUSALEM #24

OUR GLORIFIED BODY ( PART 8)

Will we be able to recognize friends, loved ones, and others in heaven?

The answer is yes.

1. In His resurrection body, Jesus was clearly recognised except when He chose to conceal it from the two disciples on the road to Emmaus.

2. At the Last Supper, He promised His disciples that in His Millennial Kingdom and in heaven, they would all drink the fruit of the vine together again as they did that evening ( Matt.8:22; Luke 22:17-18 ).

3. Moses and Elijah were recognized by Peter at the Mount of Transfiguration ( Matt. 17:3-4 ). These two Old Testament saints still maintained a clear identity!

4. Paul taught that a mortal body is like a seed, while an immortal body is like a full-grown plant ( 1 Cor. 15:35-38 ). Both seed and plant are physical with an intrinsic continuity between the two. Some theologians believe that if we recognize our loved ones now, that ability will be magnified not diminished in our immortal state.

But we must remember the Bible does not go into detail about our resurrected bodies. Questions as the age of our appearance and other attributes remain unanswered.

Abba Father, we will not be nameless and faceless souls without identities. Rather, we will maintain our current identities but in a resurrected and glorified body that has no infirmities nor faults
