PAUL'S AMAZING TEACHINGS
THE ONE NEW MAN IN CHRIST ( Part 2 )
EPHESIANS 2:11-22
The implications of this new doctrine are mind-boggling.
A. THE 3 BLESSINGS WE OBTAINED IN CHRIST.
With salvation coming to the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, we each bear an individual responsibility to live up to our "holy calling" as God's kingdom, God's family, and as God's temple!
Let's examine these 3 blessings we as Gentiles obtained IN Christ:
1. We have become "fellow citizens with the saints" in the wonderful kingdom of God; let's live accordingly! (cf. Ro 14: 16-19 )
2. We have become "members of God's household (family)"; let's behave and treat each other as the family of God! ( cf. 1Ti 3:15; 5:1-2 ).
3. We have become "the temple of God" in which God dwells through His Spirit; let's be careful not to profane God's holy habitation! (cf. 1Co 3:16-17; 1Co 6:19-20).
B. THE 2 BLESSINGS WE OBTAINED THROUGH CHRIST.
The implications of the One New Man in Christ is so far-reaching.
1. THROUGH Christ, Gentiles can now be "one body" with the Jews (13-16) because of Jesus, who is "our peace", who broke down the "middle wall" of division (i.e. the "law of commandments contained in ordinances") which once separated Jews from Gentiles.
For by His death on the cross, He abolished that which created "enmity" between Jew and Gentile under the law of Moses given at Mt. Sinai. For it is He who "made peace" by reconciling both Jew and Gentile to God in one body through the Cross.
2. THROUGH Christ, Gentiles can now share access to the Father with the Jews (17-18) because of Jesus, who came and "preached peace" to those "afar off" (Gentiles) and those "near" (Jews) for "through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father".
The access to the Father is "through Him" (Jesus) (cf. Ro 8:34 2). The access to the Father is "by one Spirit" (Holy Spirit) (cf. Ro 8:26-27).
Abba Father, as in the Creation of Adam, the workings of the Trinity are evident in the creation of the One New Man in Christ. Hallelujah!
