Q n A about Heaven #10
What about the teaching called Universalism?
Yesterday's devotion dealt with Annihilation - the belief that unbelievers are not punished by eternal torment but are extinguished as in eternal death.
Universalists go further. They believe that all mankind will ultimately receive salvation and spend eternity in heaven.
They claim that eternal punishment is inconsistent with a loving God.
But Dr. Ryrie argues otherwise: God's character not only involves love, grace, and mercy but also righteousness, holiness, and divine wrath.
Other universalists argue that a just God will not give infinite punishment for finite sin. But all sin is ultimately against an infinite God and deserves infinite punishment.
Abba Father, the Bible is clear that NOT all people will receive salvation and spend eternity in heaven. John 3:18 states, " He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God". Indeed " He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" ( John 3:36 ).
