Q n A about Heaven #3

What happens to babies, infants, and children who die without accepting Christ?

The Bible does not give us the clear answers we desire regarding their destiny but it does give some assurance and valuable insights.

When David's first son with Bathsheba died soon after birth, David mourned his death but firmly believed that he would be reunited with his son in heaven.

He said in 2 Samuel 12:22-23: " I will go to him, but he will not return to me".

David knew that death was inevitable, but he fully expected to be reunited with his son after death.

In Matthew 18:1-6, 10-14, and 19:14, Jesus spoke tenderly about children and the kingdom of God.

As a result, most theologians state that such infants are saved although they are too young to exercise saving faith in Christ's redeeming work.

A minority disagrees and says that each child has a sinful nature that alienates him or her from God from the moment of birth.

Abba Father, Your Word in Revelation 20:12-13 says that the final judgment of the wicked is  "according to their deeds". Hence it is believed infants cannot possibly be the objects of Your judgment because they are not responsible for their deeds for they have not reached the age of accountability. Even so, may Your divine mercy be upon those babes, infants, and children who were never able to receive or reject Your salvation.
