LESSONS ON HEAVEN ( PART 9 )
WHAT WILL OUR RESURRECTED BODIES LOOK LIKE?
The Bible does not tell us the details of our resurrected bodies. Questions regarding the age and other attributes of our resurrected bodies remain unanswered.
But according to some Bible scholars our resurrection bodies are not merely immortal duplicates of our present ones.
Paul used the analogy of the wheat seed to describe our resurrected bodies ( 1 Cor. 15:35-38 ).
A mortal body - he wrote - is like a seed while an immortal body is like the full-grown plant. Both are physical ( three-dimensional ) with an intrinsic continuity between the two. But what a difference between the seed and the plant in appearance, in attribute, and in potential.
In His resurrected body, Jesus was recognized by His disciples especially by doubting Thomas who saw His scars up close and personal. But He could conceal His appearance when talking with the two on the road to Emmaus - and to a certain extent to Mary Magdalene who mistook Him for a gardener at the Garden Tomb or John who fainted when He appeared to him at Patmos. But in His resurrected body He could appear and disappear at will before His disciples and even eat fish to prove He was not a ghost.
Abba Father, we will be clearly recognized as well. We will retain our current identities but in resurrected and glorified bodies that have no infirmities or faults.
