LESSONS ON FAITH ( PART 2)

FAITH LIKE A MUSTARD SEED

In Matthew 17:20 Jesus likened the teeny-weeny Mustard Seed to a seed of faith.

“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

In the famous Parable of the Mustard Seed, Jesus Christ teaches that the mustard seed is the least of all seeds, but when planted, it becomes the greatest of all herbs. He compares the seed to the kingdom of heaven- although seemingly very small, it quickly grows and spreads to fill the earth.

This phenomenon can be witnessed in Israel until today. The mustard seed is one of the tiniest, most insignificant seeds found in the Middle East. A fast-growing annual herb, the mustard seed grows up to 10 feet tall in just a few short months, demonstrating the striking example of the potential of a small, insignificant seed.

What spiritual lessons on FAITH can we learn from the Parable of Mustard Seed?

1. A seed does nothing until it is planted. The Parable of the Good Soil comes to mind.

2. Once planted, seeds are persistent, and they never give up.

3. After that, some can even overcome obstacles and move rocks through its continuous expansion and growth.

ABBA FATHER, where there is faith, there is a way. The Parable of the Mustard Seed encourages us to keep on sowing the gospel of faith. For whenever the seed falls on good soil, it will yield a harvest of souls as taught by Jesus in Matthew 13: 8-9

"8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
