Q n A about Heaven #12
HOW TO GO TO HEAVEN? ( Part 1 )
FOR PRE-BELIEVERS
An author once said that our civilization has "turned its back on heaven only to make its bed in hell".
In the closing book of the Bible - the Book of Revelation - John issues the last invitation: " The Spirit and the bride say "Come". And let the one who hears say, " Come ". And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost " ( Rev.22:7 ).
There are two metaphors in this invitation:
1. Marriage. The groom has issued an invitation to the bride. In the same way, God has made a provision - at no expense to pre-believers, but at great expense to Himself- to enter into an intimate relationship with Him ( like a marriage ) that will give us eternal life.
2. Thirst. The invitation is issued to the one who hears and who is thirsty.
Thirst represents a need: forgiveness of sin. God is holy. He must judge sin. But forgiveness came with a cost - the death, burial and resurrection of His Son. As 1 Cor. 15:3-4 says: " Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures".
Abba Father, Christ's payment for our sins through His death on the Cross is the only way that we can receive the forgiveness of sin, the re-establishment of a relationship with You, and eternal life. " For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so no one may boast" ( Eph. 2:8-9 ). This is why John invites the thirsty to come and enter into a relationship with You through Christ.
N.B.
Dear Pre- Believer, are you thirsty? Do you recognize your sin before God? If you do, then come to Christ. Once you are a child of God, you have eternal life and Heaven will be your eternal home.
