Lesson 3611
JOSEPH #15
JOSEPH AND CHRIST #4
1. Joseph's rejection by his brothers put him in a position to bless not just his family members but other nationalities as well who were affected by the famine i.e. other nations beyond Egypt.
Gen. 41:56-57 records: " With severe famine everywhere, Joseph opened up the storehouses and distributed grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout the land of Egypt. And people from all around came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph because the famine was severe throughout the world."
2. Jesus in His time was also rejected by the Jews ( His brothers as it were ).
Romans 11:11 says: " They were disobedient, so God made salvation available to the Gentiles".
Today's comparative study illustrates this point: Jesus, like Joseph, provides salvation to the brothers who rejected him.
Joseph, the rejected Jew, was exalted to become the only saviour for a starving world.
Likewise, Jesus, a rejected Jew, is the only Saviour for a world that is spiritually famished and perishing.
In Christ, we shall find " God's abundant provision of grace and the gift of righteousness ( so that he may ) reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ ( Romans 5:17 ).
No wonder the worshippers in Revelation 5:9 could affirm their praises in song singing: " You were slaughtered, and Your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation."
