WHY HEAVEN? ( Part 1)
Because it pertains to our eternal destiny.
For believers, it is an impetus for godly living, evangelism, and daily ministry.
When we as believers realise this life is not forever, nor is it the best life that will ever be, it makes good sense to ponder what to make of the rest of our lives. Moreso as true believers we are headed for heaven.
Although sin has scarred our thoughts, emotions, and will, and marred our souls and spirits, we know what redemption in Christ would be like. So we long for that day when we will be completely redeemed, finally made perfect (Heb.12:22-23 ). This is what heaven is all about.
Abba Father, it is time we realise that what we do on earth has a direct bearing on how we live there in heaven. So many say they want to go to heaven but do nothing about their need for daily sanctification. Instead, they procrastinate as if their parade of life in endless self-gratification ( endless holidays, shopping, feasting, and entertainment ) will go on forever. But it will end. Indeed Lord teaches us wisdom in numbering our days in the reverential fear of You. For life will not always continue as it does today ( 2 Peter 3:2-12 ).
