JOSEPH #6 : JOSEPH'S PIT EXPERIENCE

JOSEPH #6

JOSEPH'S PIT EXPERIENCE

Joseph's trajectory was from pit to prison to palace - in God's plan and purposes for his life -  two negatives, one positive!

For us, our "pit" experience -  like his - may have been forced on us by others, or be one of our own makings.

Either way, God wants to deliver us. He may not do it immediately nor in the way we like, but He is ever faithful.

We can thus be confident we are in God's care regardless of our circumstances.

We can pray with David in Psalm 40:11-13 which dealt with his pit experience - " Do not withhold your mercy from me, O Lord; may Your love and truth always protect me. For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, for I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. Be pleased, O Lord, to save me; O Lord, come quickly to help me."

Joseph was taken out of the pit and then to Egypt. But he was exactly where he was supposed to be.

His brothers on the other hand thought they would be rid forever of Joseph their despised brother. Without anticipating the consequences, they were actually creating a pit of their own.

Like Joseph, our pit may not be resolved exactly the way we have hoped or planned, but we are confident we are in God's care.

Without our pit experience, we will not appreciate the glorious ascent up and above our circumstances.

For there is no glory without the Cross. And we know we have an Advocate and Mediator who intercedes for us before the throne of God.
