THE GLORY OF GOD ( PART# 83)

From Glory to Glory ( Study #62)

Walking By The Spirit #32
REVIEW OF THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT#6

When a believer is controlled by the Holy Spirit, he or she manifests:

1)  UPWARD FRUIT ( towards God ): Love, Joy, Peace (Galatians 5:22)

2) OUTWARD FRUIT ( towards others )

(Galatians 5:22b) which consists of

patience,

kindness and

goodness (faithfulness)

3) INWARD FRUIT ( towards self )

(Galatians 5:22-23)

made up of faithfulness,

gentleness and self-control.

1. OUTWARD FRUIT OF PATIENCE, KINDNESS AND GOODNESS TOWARDS OTHERS

PATIENCE AS THE FIRST OUTWARD FRUIT TOWARDS OTHERS

The fourth fruit,

Patience or Long-suffering (Greek: Makrothumia) has to do with tolerance

which endure injuries inflicted by others, the calm willingness to

accept situations that are irritating or painful.

God Himself is “slow to anger” (Ps. 86:15) and expects His children to be the same.

Just as believers should never “think lightly of the riches of [God’s own] kindness and

forbearance and

Patience” (Rom. 2:4), they should themselves manifest those attributes of their Heavenly Father.

We daily provoke God with our sins, but He is patient with us.

He is slow to anger and is long-suffering with the likes of us (Exod. 34:6; Ps. 103:8).

But His Patience is not limitless or endless because there will come a time and day when He will act in judgment. But because God is love, He is patient - giving us time to repent.

Paul reminds  believers that they are commanded to

emulate our Lord’s Patience.

(Ephesians 4:1-7).

In verse 2, we are to treat others: "with all humility and

gentleness,

with Patience,

bearing with one another in love...".

It is because of God’s merciful Patience that He forestalls Christ’s Second Coming and the accompanying judgment on unbelievers,

“not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9).

Abba Father, through the Holy Spirit, Your grace has been given to us to maintain unity among the brethren by bearing with one another, which is Patience (Eph. 4:1–3).

If we take offense at every slight or offense,

real or imagined,

we are breaking Your Word on Patience.

People ought not to feel that they have to tread on eggshells in our presence. Instead they should sense Your infinite Patience in us.
