Lesson 3739

THE LIVES OF THE PATRIARCHS #56

THE LIFE OF MOSES #38

THE SPIRITUAL LESSONS OF MOSES, JOSHUA, DAVID.

The passing of the baton of leadership can be seen in hindsight as we study the O.T. scriptures.

In the lives of 3 national leaders, God is pointing us towards Jesus as the King of kings, the Messiah of Israel, and of the world.

1. Moses ( Levi ) to lead Israel OUT of Egypt

2  Joshua ( Ephraim ) to lead Israel INTO  the Promised Land

3. David ( Judah )  the God- designated king of Israel who ENLARGED and established Israel's borders more than any Israelite king.

In the New Testament, we see how the 3 leaders of the O.T. pointed to Jesus as the fulfillment of God's plan and purposes for humanity.

1. Jesus leads us OUT of Egypt ( the things of the world that signify idolatry ).

2. Jesus leads us INTO the Promised Land of eternal rest ( Heaven on earth - " Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" ).

3. Jesus in His Great Commission calls us to establish with Him the Kingdom of God over the whole earth ( "First in Judea, then Samaria, and to the ends of the world" )

ACTS 1:8

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Let us pray.

Father God,

As students of the Word, the end of Bible Study is to know You in Your Word.

As You show us how Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, we can more clearly discern Your calling upon us which is for a cause bigger than our lives - a cause worth living and even dying for.

Right now we are caught up with finding a vaccine to fight the Covid 19 virus to prolong our lives.

May we be just as concerned and impassioned to fight the virulent contagion of sin, the pandemic of fear and anxiety, the resurrected plagues of Egypt as we near the End Times.

Indeed we are reminded of Your Kingdom dynamics to refocus our priorities on Jesus' kingdom manifesto ( The Sermon on the Mount ) which He publicly taught in

Matthew 6:33-34

(King James Version)

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

In essence, Jesus is cautioning us not to worry about these human concerns and to instead place our greatest priority on seeking Your Kingdom.

For we humans cannot effectively rule ourselves; and in the end, all human governments apart from You will fail.

Only Your Eternal Kingdom and Your rule and reign will never fail us.

Keep us in Your eternal Shalom now and forevermore.

In Jesus' mighty Name we pray, Amen.
