THE LIFE OF MOSES #25

3 REVELATIONS OF  YHVH'S NAME GIVEN TO MOSES #13

YHVH M'KADDESH ( PART 4 )

In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah had an awesome vision of God's glorious Holiness filling the Temple ( Isaiah 6: 1-6 ).

The seraphim around God's throne cried out: " Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory ."( Isaiah 6:3 )

It was an extraordinary vision but even more miraculously Isaiah survived this experience ... unscathed or shall I say unburnt to ashes!

He knew he was a sinner in God's holy presence but one of the seraphim touched his lips with a burning coal from the altar which did not burn him. Instead, he was told, " Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for."

The image of God's holiness purifying him of sin remains as a powerful reminder. Nor was God tainted by his sin. In fact, God's grace removed it entirely.

Jesus in His time touched and healed a leper. Instead of being held unclean under Jewish law, Jesus' virtue healed the leper. Indeed He was the Holy One of Israel.

This idea of God's holiness is a purifying agent was further evidenced when the prophet Ezekiel - exiled to Babylon - had a vision of God's Temple at Jerusalem giving off so much freshwater that it flowed eastwards into the Dead Sea like a mighty river reviving it back to life with teeming fish and vegetation ( Eze.47:1-10 ).

Later John has this same vision of the New Heaven and New Earth in the Book of Revelation - where this same river of life flowed from the throne of God in the New Jerusalem ( Rev. 22:1 -2 ) - where the tree of life stood with leaves for the healing of nations.

Suddenly the "revelation" of all these prophecies hit me when I was in Jerusalem teaching at the Southern Gates of the Temple complex.

For we are now called the Temple of the Holy Spirit ( 1 Cor. 6:19 ) when Paul said: " Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God? YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN."

And it was Jesus Himself who said:  "Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, " Out of his heart ( or belly ) will flow rivers of living water." ( John 7:38 ).

What was this revelation all about?

Once we are born-again and the Holy Spirit is in us, we become God's agent of holiness - dispensing His grace of mercy and healing for others.

For out of our hearts ( or belly ) shall flow rivers of living water.

This realisation of our great privilege and responsibility should prompt us to walk in His Holiness and not take it for granted. Indeed the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

I humbly realised that He was and still is - and forever will be - our YHVH M'Kaddesh ( The Lord Who Is My Sanctifier ).

We thus become God's agents of change - to disinfect sin, disease, devil, and death in this fallen world.
