Lesson from the Red Sea Crossing #3

PROPHETIC PICTURE OF SALVATION IN CHRIST

The Red Sea Crossing is a prophetic picture of salvation in Christ.

Moses said to his people: " Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the  SALVATION of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord ( YHVH ) will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."

( Exodus 14:13 )

In short:

1. Your enemy is going to kill you.

2. You are powerless to defend yourself.

3. YHVH will deliver you.

4. He will destroy your enemy.

In Hebrew, the hand motif is important in the name of God YHVH.

YOD = hand

HEY = window of revelation

VAV = nail

Yeshua's pierced hands were nailed to the wooden cross to bring salvation!

YHVH commanded Moses to stretch forth his hand with the wooden rod over the Red Sea. Read Exodus 14:16,26.

Moses is acting as a picture of the Messiah stretching forth His hand to bring salvation.

For Jesus' Hebrew Name YESHUA actually means salvation.

So what is our revelation from the Red Sea crossing concerning our salvation?

1. Salvation will occur through One named salvation.

2. It will occur through the name of YHVH - which means salvation will occur through the revelation ( Hey ) of a nail ( Vav ) which pierces a hand ( Yod ).

3. Salvation will occur through an outstretched hand associated with wood.

4. Salvation is entirely by God's hand ( Yod ) not by the works of any man.

Conclusion

Moses' staff-laden outstretched hand is simply a prophetic and Messianic picture of the outstretched hand of Messiah Yeshua that was nailed to the tree ( a piece of wood ).

Thus the Red Sea crossing is a prophetic picture of salvation through the sacrificial death of Messiah Yeshua.
