PAUL THE APOSTLE ( Part 7 )
Barnabus never forgot the teaching anointing on Paul's life and went to Tarsus to call him back to serve the early church when the need arose for good teachers.
In Acts 11 as the emissary from the Jerusalem church (the Mother Church ) to check out what God was doing in the new church at Antioch (comprising mainly of Gentiles), Barnabus saw the need for good teachers of the Word.
He saw what the Lord was doing in the church at Antioch, was glad and encouraged everyone to remain true to the Lord. Then he tracked down Saul (now Paul) in Tarsus and brought him back to Antioch to teach the new believers
(Acts 11:25-26).
For a whole year, they met with the church at Antioch and taught large numbers. Their collaboration was so fruitful that they would later start the first missionary journey with John Mark.
Abba Father, Barnabas operated in the boldness of the Holy Spirit. He called Paul back to the fold when no one else did. He put Paul where his giftings would be of optimum use in his calling to the Gentiles. Lord, use us too to encourage others, to sponsor others, to make heroes of others. May Barnabus' example be our guide to communal partnerships in spreading the gospel of Christ.
